Fillings
Our dentists provide fillings used to replace tooth structure that has been damaged by decay, abrasion and acid erosion.
What can I expect when I come for filling?
1. Your dentist will first remove the decayed tooth material, clean the affected area, and then pack it with a filling material.
2. Closing cavities with fillings will restore the tooth to its original form and prevent bacteria from entering the tooth, which helps to prevent further decay.
How long do my fillings last?
The longevity of a filling depends on your oral hygiene, the type of material used, the location of the filling and your chewing and biting habits.
Will doing a filling be painful?
There may be some sensitivity while decay is being removed from your tooth, especially if the decay is near to the nerve. If the sensitivity is unbearable, please raise this to your dentist. Local anaesthesia can be administered to give you a more comfortable treatment.
What type of material will be used for my filling?
We mostly use tooth-coloured resin materials for our fillings. This type of material is strong and quick to harden, and also matches the colour of your tooth, making them more aesthetic.
